A Letter from the Master Peter Deunov, Part 4/7

Comet ‘West’, seen in 1976

Let us take an example in astronomy with the suns, the planets and comets. Comets are celestial bodies which do not revolve around any sun. Their trajectory is unpredictable, they are the vagabonds of space. The lives of people linked to the egocentric system are identical to those of wandering comets. They listen only to their whims and cannot be counted on. It is better to avoid meeting them because they are dangerous and, like comets, according to ancient traditions, their appearance in our lives is a sign of misfortune.

Unlike comets, the planets revolve around a center, a sun, and they travel through space on a regular trajectory. In the same way, disciples revolve around an Initiate or a Master. Each day, the life they lead, in contact with the center, teaches them something new and useful.

On the planets develop a flora, a fauna, a civilization. It is the same for people who resemble the planets. The motion of the planets is not perfectly regular, sometimes they move away, sometimes they approach the sun. This is what happens also with disciples: sometimes they approach and sometimes they distance from their ideal, and they alternately live in joy or pain.

Finally, beings who resemble suns are the Initiates and Great Masters of humanity. They carry within them light, warmth and life, and they gravitate around a center almost unknown to humans: God. They do not pass, like the planets, from light to darkness or from joy to sadness. They ignore the inner changes.

To be continued…

And now I would like to read to you some more passages from the book; The Sacred Words of the Master, by Peter Deunov …

The soul lives in absolute purity. If the disciple does not receive the love of their Master as a soul, then this love will be perverted. If they do not receive this knowledge as a soul, the knowledge will be distorted.

Let disciples seek the light within themselves. So when the darkness appears outside, and when the storm rages, this inner light will illuminate their consciousness and the love for greatness will be born within them. May they preserve the inner light preciously.

When the soul receives anything with love, everything will be given to it through love. For God, this is a law.

Open your heart every day before the Beloved of your soul so that His eyes may penetrate its most secret depths. Open your soul every day before the Lord!

Humility is the expression of love towards the Supreme Being. The inaccessible summits send their blessings to the valleys.

The intelligence of nature has placed the sacred things on the highest, inaccessible summits, so that only the souls, ready to appreciate their true value, can rejoice in their pure beauty. The disciple should not communicate sacred things to the world.

I am wondering about the last sentence of not communicating sacred things to the world. While it makes sense that one should not throw precious things to whomever is not able to appreciate them, still a disciple is expected to speak the truth he knows and to spread the teachings for the benefit of the whole humanity. Are there any guidelines that may help one to decide when and what to speak and to whom? This has always been challenging for me to decide and has made me to question myself in regard of having done the right thing or not.

A very good question dear Luba and I think in your question you also provided the guidelines. A few additional observations.
These are the words of Peter Deunov, spoken nearly 100 years ago, in a society not as tolerant as today. But 50 years later, the Master Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov’s last wish was for his disciples to spread his teaching throughout the world – which is what we do on this website and on Facebook. But both he and Peter Deunov advise strongly against sharing with others our inner spiritual experiences.
Equally, as you say, we should not throw precious things to those not able to appreciate them. As the thought explains; ‘The intelligence of nature has placed the sacred things on the highest, inaccessible summits, so that only the souls, ready to appreciate their true value, can rejoice in their pure beauty.’ We should be wise about what we share and with whom.

        Thank you, John!
It is a great point that humanity is always in a process of evolving and times has changed. While there is no need for secrecy anymore, the privacy and the sacredness of our inner experiences should be honored. So is the spreading of the Teachings, but not in a personal way, if my understanding is correct.

Again dear Luba, you express the message well. I see it like a spectrum; at the one end the Master asks his followers to spread the teaching throughout the world, and at the other both he and Peter Deunov say our personal experiences should be kept private. Between the two, like many things in life, there is a need for wisdom and judgement. In your study of the teaching, you will find much advice on the subject, so I am sure this will become clearer as you continue on your journey.

      Thank you, John!
It is a process for me and everyone else, I guess, to learn trusting in own judgment and to stand on their own two feet. Being able to apply in our daily lives the wisdom of the Teachings and the advices of our spiritual Masters with confidence, without looking for ready answers and recipes for making choices goes a long way. This is actually the path we make, while walking it.,,
Thank you for pointing it out to me with the spectrum analogy.

Exactly dear Luba, ‘we will learn as we go along, the important thing is to make a start’. https://with-omraam.com/blog/practices-switch-on-the-light-part-13/

          Thank you once again, John!
I enjoyed reading the articles of the link that you have sent: simple, practical, pure and fresh instructions for daily living.
I have considered to order The New Earth book.
Not sure if paperback or ebook version will work better for me but will figure it out ‘as I go along.’
          Many blessings and happy Easter.
